Art Print Designed by Aseel Alyaagoub
Al-Jalwa, or Al-Jalawat, is one of the nights that takes place immediately before the wedding night and is considered one of the distinctive traditions of the Eastern Province, especially in the Qatif region. On this occasion, the bride wears a special traditional dress known as the “Thobe Al-Nashl,” which is distinguished by its vibrant colors and beautiful golden embroidery. The bride sits in the center of the celebration area, surrounded by her relatives and friends. During the celebration, the women chant traditional songs and dance as an expression of joy and happiness. One of the most distinctive features of this night is the application of henna on the hands of the bride and the attendees, as henna is considered one of the essential forms of adornment for women on such occasions. The celebration concludes with dinner, after which the bride goes to rest in preparation for her big day and wedding celebration.
